So ... we're done! The house is on the market and we're raring to go. The final tasks included:
in the hallway:
- adding some tasteful art in place of dozens of family snaps
- switching out mismatched carpets with neutral rugs
- moving a bench closer to the entrance
in the dining room:
- fitting out the windows with white sheers to let in more light
- reorienting the table to match the flow of the room
- clearing the walls
in the living room:
- adding more tasteful art, plus moving a Sistine Chapel reproduction from the bedroom to over the couch, where it's better proportioned
- replacing the pink tones with neutrals
- nixing the 35 year old curtains and adding taupe sheers
- grouping furniture in a more welcoming way
- adding a fun lamp
in the master bedroom:
- adding matching bedside lamps
- moving large painting from over the bed to the living room
- adding throw pillows ($2 at Value Village!)
- replacing curtains ($7 at Target in a perfect shade!)
in the kitchen:
- posing plants and a few other inviting elements
In the bathroom:
- adding a complementary mirror and fun prints that match the shower curtains
- posing candles, soap and towels and hope no one notices the dated countertop
in the basement:
- dusting off the long lost pool table, rearranging the furniture and being amazed at the available space here!
So, now it's off to the open house. Fingers crossed!
